About Level 4 Certificate CiAM

The Level 4 Certificate in Automotive Management is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ). This means that the programme is flexible and can be delivered to suit your work and home life.

The Certificate comprises of a balance between mandatory and optional units of study that enable you to choose the topics of study best suited to your role and career objectives.

This Level 4 programme is intended for managers currently employed in a departmental management role such as vehicle sales, workshop or service managers, paint and body shop managers, parts managers and other operational management roles.

This qualification will provide you with the foundation to progress to the Level 5 Diploma in Management. On completion of the level 4 certificate you will be able to carry 14 credits forward to your Diploma programme.

The Level 4 Certificate is open to managers of all disciplines and levels of experience working in the automotive industry. It is recommended that managers have a minimum of 6 month’s experience in departmental management or have previously achieved the Level 3 Award in Automotive Management before enrolling on to this programme.

A minimum of 12 months experience in the retail motor industry is the foundation for participation in this programme.

To achieve the Certificate in Automotive Management you will need to accrue 26 Level 4 credits. Your Certificate programme will comprise of eight units, each unit awarding either three or four credits.

The level 4 Certificate comprises of:
⦁ Four mandatory units totalling 12 credits; each unit providing 3 credits
plus
⦁ Four optional units selected from a choice of fifteen options to add the balance of 14 credits
(Managers who hold a Level 3 Award in Automotive Management may carry forward the 9 credits gained from their Award qualification thus reducing the work required to complete their Certificate.)

The Level 4 Certificate in Automotive Management is typically completed in twelve to eighteen months; however, the pace of your programme and a target completion date will be agreed with your programme director at the start of your course.

You will demonstrate your knowledge and ability in management at Level 4 by completing a related assignment and a multiple-choice question paper for each of the programme units completed.
