About Level 5 Award CiAM

The Level 5 Diploma in Automotive Management is a flexible programme which can be tailored to suit the work and lifestyle of the candidate.

The Diploma comprises of seven or eight Level 5 units; each unit awards a number of credits to the candidate on successful completion. Successful candidates will accrue credits to qualify for the Diploma.

  • General Managers, senior managers, and those aspiring to a senior management role in the automotive industry.
  • Managers with two or more years’ experience employed in a departmental management role such as vehicle sales, workshop or service managers, paint and body shop managers and other operational management roles.

The Level 5 Diploma is open to all managers working in the automotive industry. Managers should have a minimum of two years’ experience in an operational management role in the automotive industry before enrolling onto a Level 5 programme.

The Level 5 Diploma qualification opens the opportunity to continue automotive industry studies to academic levels.

There are no prerequisite standards for enrolling on to the Level 5 Diploma programme, however, we would recommend that your work experience should include a minimum of two years in a management role in the automotive industry and ideally you will hold a qualification or training standard equivalent to the Level 3 Award in Automotive Management.

The Level 5 Diploma follows the credit accrual pattern for qualification as described in the Qualifications Introduction. You will need to accrue a minimum of 39 credits in order to qualify for the Diploma.

The Level 5 Diploma comprises of:
⦁ Two Level 5 mandatory units awarding a total of 14 credits
⦁ Two Level 5 optional units totalling a minimum of 12 credits
⦁ A minimum of 13 credits gained from a selection of Level 4 and the remaining Level 5 optional units
Managers who hold a Level 4 Certificate in Automotive Management will carry forward 14 credits gained from their Certificate qualification reducing the work required to complete the Diploma.

Candidates will demonstrate their knowledge and ability in general management practice through a range of methods of assessment during the programme.
