LEVEL 3 Refrigerant Handling FAQs

Refrigerant gas handling certification for technicians maintaining and repairing car and commercial vehicle Air conditioning systems and technicians working with Cargo Transport refrigeration gases.

Most candidates successfully complete their certification at the first sitting; however, there are certain criteria, if not met, that mean that a candidate may need to re-take part, or all, of the assessment. Whilst there is a fee for the second sitting, the candidate is not required to re-take the entire programme, only the appropriate aspect of assessment in which they did not meet the required grade.
This usually is delivered at a time convenient to their work schedule. The technician will receive a refresher briefing from the assessor before attempting the assessment for the second time.

AIT Training Developments delivers the F-Gas certification programmes to your technicians, on your premises.
To deliver the programme on your premises, all we require from you is:
An open area the size of a single workshop bay (lifts or ramps are not required)
A meeting room to seat the number of participating candidates.
Standard 13amp power supply in the work bay and the meeting room
An internet connection of sufficient strength to operate one PC per candidate.
Each programme delivery has a maximum capacity of six candidates.

Certificates are issued to AIT Training Developments by the awarding body, the Institute of the Motor Industry. On completion of the assessments your AIT assessor will prepare the documentation and request the issue of certificates for successful candidates within twenty-four hours of the close of the assessment session. Candidates will receive their certificates approximately 15 working days following the date of the assessment.

Qualifications in Automotive Management FAQs

National management qualifications at Levels 3, 4 and 5 specifically developed for experienced and aspiring managers

The answer to this for Levels 4 Certificate & Level 5 Diploma is ‘You determine the pace at which you want to or can study’. The three qualifications are Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs) which means we tailor them around the time you have to commit to study taking into account work and personal life and commitments and the level of support you may have from your employer, family etc.
The Level 3 Award, whilst flexible to suit you, is generally completed within eighteen weeks or less.

The simple answer is that there is no ‘fail’ in any of the qualifications. Your qualification is decided through the acceptance of an assignment plus achieving the grade in a multiple choice questionnaire that accompany each unit. It is the duty of your programme director to assist you through your programme to achievement of your chosen qualification. If you submit an assignment that needs more input it will be returned to you with guidance as to what is needed to fully answer the assignment question. The questionnaire can be retaken should you not quite achieve the required grade in your first attempts. ‘Fail’ is not a word that exists within our vocabulary.

It is not possible to offer a fixed cost for a course due to the options that form a major part of each qualification. Please contact us to discuss the qualification mix that best meets your own needs and objectives.

You can either pay for your qualification programme in one single payment at the start of your training or, to assist your budget, we will invoice you for each unit as you start it.

As with virtually all administrative qualifications, there is no simple answer to this one. Firstly there is no specific national funding available to the motor industry for administrative qualifications. Local authorities and government agencies may be able to help you, however many factors may be taken into consideration, particularly age, experience, personal resources, potential employer involvement etc. Local councils may be able to advise you or put you in touch with agencies that may have budgets that can assist you. We try to make it as painless as possible by invoicing unit by unit of your programme and not asking for your full commitment before your programme starts.

We positively welcome employer support as this will assist you greatly in learning and applying the skills of management in practice and may well assist you with fees for your programme.

Quite simply no, you do not need to have an employer behind you to be accepted for any of the qualifications.

Your programme director will be pleased to discuss and implement a ‘holiday’ from your participation in your programme. He or she will also support you in your return to complete your qualification.

There are no exams involved in gaining the Level 3 Award, Level 4 Certificate or Level 5 Diploma. Your qualification is decided on the responses you include in each of your assignments and the results of a multiple-choice on-line questionnaire. See FAQ number 2 for a full answer to this question.
